This allows you to hang on to the rope with more ease while on steeper slopes. The design is one piece construction with no moving parts, made with lightweight aluminum and round surfaces and edges. To engage the rope just place it between the two prongs at the end of the handle and lean back with both hands on the handle your weight will keep it engaged on the rope. when you make it to the top grab the rope and take your weight with one hand and then tilt the handle in the uphill direction and it will release. If you let go with both hands the handle will also release and fall to the snow.
